Attend MNEA Legislative Forums

Only you can paint the picture of Missouri schools for your lawmaker.

Legislative Forums are free events, open to the public. Invite your friends, colleagues and family to attend with you. Missouri legislators will discuss such topics as school funding, the future of public education and student safety.

Legislative Forums provide a chance for you to begin building a relationship with the people who represent you at the Missouri capitol. Help them understand the challenges you face in your classrooms, schools and neighborhoods. Share the programs that have success with student-centered learning and the programs that can use improvement.Lawmakers in Missouri need a first-hand account of what their constituents face on a daily basis, and only you can help paint that picture.

Check the schedule below for the 2019 MNEA Legislative activity in your area. Now is the time to start inviting teachers, ESP, administrators and school board members who would enjoy and benefit from the forum and panel discussion.

Attend on a date that works for you, even if it’s outside your Governance District

Share your story

Even though we are not at school supporting Missouri students, members continue to help every day during this crisis. MNEA wants to share your stories as we struggle through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We are hearing about members who are continuing to care for their students by

  • volunteering at school district Grab & Go meal distribution centers and food drives
  • providing child care for essential medical staff
  • shopping for the elderly so they don’t have to leave the safety of their homes

Your stories help show that educators don’t stop caring. Please send your stories with pictures to MNEA at coronavirus@mnea.org, so we can share them. You can post to social media, making sure you tag @MissouriNEA and use the hashtags  #MNEAheroes and  #MNEAprotects.
